Finding Support, Understanding Yourself, and Creating Lasting Change with Rebecca Choi, LCSW
Rebecca Choi, LCSW
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, whether it's your first time or you've tried therapy before and aren't sure if you want to try again. You may not know what to say, whether your concerns are "serious enough," or even where to start. You don't need to have everything figured out before we meet. We can start with whatever is bringing you in.
I'm a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing individual therapy in English and Korean primarily for adults, as well as older adolescents (16+), experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, adjustment difficulties, life stressors and transitions, and interpersonal or relationship concerns.
One of my favorite parts of therapy is helping people understand why they think, feel, or react the way they do. It can be frustrating to know what you want to do but still feel stuck or notice the same patterns showing up without knowing why. I enjoy connecting the dots and explaining things in a way that feels easy to understand and apply to everyday life.
My approach is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while incorporating other evidence-based strategies based on your goals and needs. I want you to feel heard, but I also want therapy to feel useful outside of our sessions. We may practice a new coping skill, look at something from a different perspective, or identify one realistic step to try between sessions.
Therapy isn't about having all the answers or making perfect progress. It's about learning, practicing, and making small changes that build confidence over time. My role is to support you in creating lasting changes at a pace that feels realistic for you.
About Rebecca Choi, LCSW
Rebecca Choi earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Her clinical experience includes providing individual therapy to older adolescents and adults experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, adjustment disorders, trauma and PTSD, grief, interpersonal and relationship concerns, and various life stressors and transitions. She also has experience working with clients experiencing emotional regulation, perfectionism, and executive functioning difficulties.
In addition to CBT, Rebecca has experience with Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Behavioral Activation, mindfulness and grounding techniques, exposure-based strategies, and DBT- and ACT-informed strategies. She is interested in pursuing training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, as well as expanding her knowledge of ACT and DBT.
As a bilingual English- and Korean-speaking therapist, Rebecca values working with culturally diverse individuals, including Korean and Asian/Asian American communities. Her ability to work in both English and Korean allows her to support clients who may navigate more than one language or culture as part of their everyday experiences.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe in using evidence-based treatments while creating a space where clients feel respected, understood, and supported. My approach combines practical strategies with collaboration and is tailored to each client's individual goals and needs. My therapeutic approaches include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Exploring connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and developing more helpful ways of responding to challenges
Motivational Interviewing
Exploring goals, values, ambivalence, and readiness for change while strengthening motivation to take meaningful steps forward
Solution-Focused Therapy
Identifying strengths, possibilities, and practical steps that can help clients move toward the changes they want to make
Behavioral Activation
Helping clients address patterns of avoidance, withdrawal, or low motivation by gradually increasing meaningful and manageable activities
Exposure-Based Strategies
Helping clients gradually approach appropriate situations, thoughts, or experiences they may be avoiding while developing healthier ways of responding to anxiety and discomfort
Psychoeducation & Skills-Based Strategies
Making mental health concepts easier to understand while incorporating practical strategies, including mindfulness and grounding, when appropriate
ACT- & DBT-Informed Strategies
I may also incorporate skills and strategies informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) when appropriate.
