Finding Support Through Anxiety, Trauma, and Life's Transitions with Samara Cobb, CSW-I

Samara Cobb, CSW-I

Clinical Social Work Intern

Life transitions and mental health challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, or past experiences begin affecting your day-to-day life. You may feel stuck, unsure of what comes next, or simply need a space where you can be heard without judgment. Therapy can offer an opportunity to slow down, process what you are experiencing, and develop healthier ways to navigate life's challenges.

Samara is passionate about supporting young adults and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and life stressors. She is especially interested in working with LGBTQ+ individuals and is a proud LGBTQ+ ally. Her approach is grounded in validation, trauma-informed care, empathy, and collaboration.

Samara believes that each person brings a unique story and set of experiences into therapy. She strives to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Her background in child welfare and community services has strengthened her understanding of family dynamics, systemic barriers, crisis intervention, and the importance of looking at the whole person when providing support.

About Samara Cobb, CSW-I

Samara Cobb is a Clinical Social Work Intern and second-year Master of Social Work student at Eastern University. She previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Central Michigan University.

Before entering clinical social work, Samara gained experience in child welfare and community services, including investigations, family preservation work, and emergency resource coordination. These experiences deepened her understanding of systemic barriers, family dynamics, crisis intervention, and the importance of holistic, strengths-based support for underserved populations.

Samara is focused on supporting young adults and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and life stressors. She has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and she is currently developing additional skills in EMDR, with an interest in incorporating IFS and Parts work into her future practice.

Samara is committed to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel understood and supported while developing practical skills for navigating life's challenges. Her background in advocacy, crisis intervention, and community services contributes to a compassionate and holistic perspective that recognizes the individual within the context of their experiences and environment.

My Approach to Therapy

Samara believes therapy should be a collaborative process where clients feel safe to explore their experiences while developing practical skills for managing emotional and mental health challenges. Her approach combines evidence-based strategies with validation, compassion, and trauma-informed care. Samara is currently developing additional skills in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and hopes to incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Parts work into her future clinical practice as her training develops. Her therapeutic approaches include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Helping clients explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing healthier ways of responding to challenges

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Supporting emotional regulation, coping skills, mindfulness, and healthier ways of navigating difficult emotions and situations

Trauma-Informed Care

Creating a safe and supportive environment that recognizes the impact of trauma and respects each client's individual experiences

Validation & Strengths-Based Support
